Hair and Body Care for Swimmers

People who spend a lot of time in the pool often see their hair turn a lovely shade of green (insert sarcasm!)

On top of that, chlorinated pools dry your hair and skin out tremendously. Chemicals can leave you with flyaways and split ends. Chlorine damages hair by stripping it of its natural oils and, even worse, if you have sensitive skin it can irritate your scalp. Having products like TRISWIM at your disposal is what you need to turn things around!

Chlorine isn’t the only thing that damages hair! If you like to swim in the ocean, saltwater can cause some problems too. Both for hair and body. TRISWIM offers products to protect both hair AND body.

Saltwater doesn’t have chemicals like chlorine but it does strip hair of its natural oils. If your hair is treated with any color it can be even worse!

There ARE things you can do to protect both hair and body. We're going to outline a few tips that will make a BIG difference!

Shower BEFORE you Swim

When you go to a community pool you might see a sign that reads, “rinse before getting in” There’s actually a good reason for that. Your hair and skin are like sponges. If you shower first your hair will feel that fresh water FIRST. It actually protects what’s about to come!

Some people simply rinse their hair and body before getting in a pool but it’s even better to put a protective coating over hair PRIOR to getting in the pool. TRISWIM’s Chlorine removal swimmers shampoo moisturizing/repairing is the perfect product.

Most people view body wash as a product only to keep clean but it also can act as a protective barrier for skin. TRISWIM body wash removes chlorine after a swim but it can also protect skin prior with B5 and Aloe Vera.

    Wear A Hat

It’s common sense in a way, yes? Wearing a hat is a good idea because it protects your hair from the sun.

A wide brimmed sun hat, a baseball hat, it really doesn’t matter. (unless you’re trying to look cute, which is another story!) A hat will provide protection for color-treated and sensitive hair and helps to keep tangles away.

While you're lounging outside the pool make sure and grab TRISWIMswimmers lotion. It’s a non-greasy, light lotion that provides moisture for a long time making it ideal for the person jumping in and out of the pool or ocean.

      Consider a Swim Cap

They’re not always the most attractive things but an effective swim cap that covers all of your hair can help keep damage at bay. It basically helps to keep the chlorine off your hair.

Don’t worry too much if a few strands get wet while wearing a cap considering our roots are what’s most important! Protecting roots can help to protect the overall health of your hair. At the same, TRISWIMproducts can reverse any damage you may have already done.

Make Sure to Rinse Off After Swimming

A quick rinse-off when you hop out of the pool or open ocean can make a big difference. Instead of waiting for your hair to dry, running fresh water over your hair ASAP will remove some of the saltwater or chemicals until you have time to shower.

On top of that, TRISWIM Chlorine removal body wash and after skin care is key. TRISWIM body wash is formulated to remove chlorine residue from the body. It’s a paraben free product that prevents itchy skin and eczema.

Use a Shampoo Designed For Swimmers

Shampoo your hair as soon as possible after you’ve been in the water. Preferably before your hair dries. It’s a good idea to buy a shampoo specifically made for swimmers and the very BEST is TRISWIM Chlorine Removal Swimmers Shampoo.

This shampoo does it all incorporating Chamomile and Watercress to relieve dandruff and smooth dry scalps. It hydrates and moisturizes with Aloe Vera, Vitamin A and Provitamin B5.

            Follow with Specialized Conditioner

The same holds true for your hair when it comes to conditioner. A conditioner that’s specifically formulated for swimmers. You need the added protection as someone who is hard on hair!

The best conditioner is TRISWIM Pineapple and Mango conditioner. Used by swimmers around the country, this conditioner is specifically formulated with mega nutrients, keratin, and proteins to coat and protect your hair. Extremely hydrating it fights off the effects of chlorine, bromine, and hard water minerals.

              Use Care Combing your Hair

It’s not a good idea when your hair is wet to tug and pull on it. This only hurts your hair at a time when it’s prone to breakage.

Using a wide-tooth comb is also a good idea to avoid damaging your hair. If it’s tangled, use your fingers! When it comes to hair care for swimmers, go easy on your hair by using a wide-tooth comb or simply running your fingers through your hair.

                Avoid Overwashing

Most the so-called “experts” say you shouldn’t wash your hair more than once a day but for those people in and out of a pool that doesn’t always happen.

If you DO want to wash everyday it’s CRITICAL to use a shampoo that will PROTECT your hair as opposed to damaging it. TRISWIM chlorine removal swimmers shampoo is one of the only products on the market where you CAN wash your hair everyday (even more!) and not have to worry about it breaking.

Be strategic when it comes to caring for your hair and it will thank you for it down the road.

                  Avoid Heat

You might think we're talking about laying out poolside but that’s not what we're suggesting! When we say heat we’re talking blow dryers, curling irons, flat irons.

While they may be great when you're styling your hair and looking for a night out on the town, heat appliances can be incredibly bad for your hair even if your hair is really healthy.

Needless to say, avoid heat any chance you can. If your hair is already damaged heat can put it over the edge! If you have to style, (after all sometimes we need to look good!) it’s important to use TRISWIM products as a protective barrier.
